Almost everyone in the editing industry will say they've always loved reading and writing, and I'm certainly no exception. For years, I devoured 3-4 books a week, eagerly signed up for creative writing courses, and could write a mean essay on any subject. Though I didn't realize it at the time, those early experiences laid the foundation for my editing journey.
I graduated from Arcadia University with a BA in art and art therapy, a fascinating blend of art, psychology, and the study of symbols. While I initially planned to pursue graduate studies and become a therapist, my path took an artistic turn. For several years, I worked as a jewelry artist and traveled across the US in a converted school bus, selling my work at art festivals. I made it to thirty states!
But the artist life, while inspiring, was unpredictable. I began exploring part-time proofreading to supplement my income during slower seasons. When the COVID pandemic shut everything down, it felt like the perfect moment to embrace a new direction.
So, I changed professions at the start of the pandemic (crazy, I know) and earned a certificate in proofreading and editing through Edit Republic. I recognized immediately that proofreading and editing had always been my true calling. Editing not only reignited my passion for language but also allowed me to combine creativity with precision.
I work with both fiction and nonfiction, bringing a keen eye and thoughtful approach to every project.
Most of my clients are indie authors, but I've also had the privilege of freelancing for various businesses and book coaches (details below).
When I'm not editing, you can find me curled up with a good book, hiking with my dog in the Appalachian Mountains, lifting weights at the gym, or playing at the park with my son.
Every project is unique. Send me a message with any questions, and I'll get back to you with answers as soon as I can.
Please include a project description, the services you're considering, and the word count!
